1. Window Tracks

Window tracks can spoil the overall look of your room. No joke! Even though we don’t necessarily pay attention to them, it makes a huge difference when you enter a room with completely clean windows. So the question is how do we get rid of these nasty trails? Here are 5 easy steps to follow:

  • Step 1: Sprinkle baking soda all over the window tracks.
  • Step 2: Pour some vinegar over them and let the two ingredients react.
  • Step 3: Come back after 10 minutes and scrub the dirt with an old toothbrush.
  • Step 4: Use a paper towel to remove all the nastiness and just dispose of it.
  • Step 5: Sometimes there are some small bits left in the corner. Get a dining knife and tuck it in a towel, then use it to clean those spots.

2. Bathroom Exhaust Fan

Exhaust fans are one of the things we often overlook and that’s why they become a painful cleaning problem at some point. There’s just too much dust, dirt and other unpleasant stuff stuck on it. At some point you have to get rid of all that, so here’s how.

  • Step 1: Before you remove the cover, use the vacuum cleaner (with the small hose attachment) to remove any visible dust.
  • Step 2: Remove the cover and rinse it with warm water.
  • Step 3: Use some soap and brush to clean the cover thoroughly. Let it dry.
  • Step 4: Vacuum the motor part of the extractor and put back the cover.

3. Stainless Steel

There are many stainless steel items in your home, starting from your cooking pots and ending with the sink. Now after some time and without the appropriate cleaning, these can look pretty bad. You don’t want that when we can show you an easy fix.

  • Step 1: Make a cleaning solution using baking soda and warm water. Use it to soak the item or gently rub it.
  • Step 2: Wipe with a microfiber cloth.
  • Step 3: Use olive oil and a clean microfiber cloth to polish the item for extra shine.

4. Black Mold

The most common places you find black moulds are the bathtub and the bathroom sink. The appearance of mould looks not only bad but also very unhealthy. Follow the three steps below to deal with it.

  • Step 1: Mix white vinegar and baking soda in a spray bottle. Apply on the affected areas and leave for an hour. This will kill the mould spores.
  • Step 2: Scrub the silicone with a toothbrush to remove the black mould.
  • Step 3: Rinse with hot water.

5. Stove Burners

Another very common cleaning problem is bringing stoves back to live. If you cook fairly often, it’s almost inevitable to have some stove burners. These can be really hard to remove, but not for us. We will tell you the secret.

  • Step 1: Pour a cup of ammonia in a Ziploc bag.
  • Step 2: Place the stove parts that need cleaning in the bag.
  • Step 3: Seal the bag and leave it overnight.
  • Step 4: Use a sponge with some soap to wipe the grease and grime from the stove parts.

6. Oven Door

Another cleaning problem in the kitchen is the oven door. Have you been in a situation where you are trying to check how your Sunday roast is doing without opening the oven and all you see is…nothing. That’s a clear sign your oven door needs some TLC.

  • Step 1: Mix half a cup of baking soda with enough water to create a thick paste.
  • Step 2: Apply the paste all over the inside of the over door glass.
  • Step 3: Leave it there for 30 minutes.
  • Step 4: Scrub in circular motions.
  • Step5: Remove the grease and grime with a clean sponge with warm water.

7. Toilet Brush

If your bathroom smells not so nice, the reason may be your toilet brush. Even thinking of cleaning that may be totally gross to most of you, but what if there was an easy way around it?

Solution: Get a cosmetic barbicide container (you can check it out on Amazon) and place the toilet brush inside. Fill the container with a nicely scented cleaning solution and forget about a stinky and nasty toilet brush forever.

8. Shower Head

Oh, shower heads can be such a pain! Can you imagine having to scrub all these hard water stains? Good news is you can have a sparkling clean and well functioning shower head with minimal efforts.

  • Step 1: Fill a sandwich bag halfway with distilled white vinegar.
  • Step 2: Add a few drops of lemon essential oil.
  • Step 3: Pop the shower head inside the bag and secure with a hair band.
  • Step 4: Leave it overnight
  • Step 5: Remove the bag and let the water run for a couple of minutes to clear off the vinegar completely.

9. Clogged Drains

This happens literally in every household as some point. Clogged drains can create even bigger problems if you don’t act on time. What do you do? Call the plumber? You don’t have to.

  • Step 1: Pour half a cup of salt into the drain.
  • Step 2: Add half a cup of baking soda.
  • Step 3: Pour half a cup of white vinegar down the drain.
  • Step 4: Wait for 10 minutes for the magic to happen.
  • Step 5: Pour about 2 liters of boiling water down the drain.

10. Microwave

Unless you are a super green-living enthusiast, you probably have a microwave in your home. You know more than well that it can begin to look and smell pretty nasty after some extensive use. What would be the solution to that? Certainly, not buying a new microwave.

  • Step 1: Pour half a cup of distilled white vinegar in a bowl.
  • Step 2: Place the bowl in the microwave and turn it on for 2 minutes on full power.
  • Step 3: Leave the bowl inside for 5 minutes after that to allow the steam to dissolve the dirt.
  • Step 4: Gently wipe off the yucky bits.
  • Step 5: Squeeze a lemon into a bowl and add some water.
  • Step 6: Repeat step 2.
