How to Clean Your Carpet Like a Pro
How to Clean Your Carpet Like a Pro. Your carpet is precious. We know that. But we also know that often times it suffers a lot of damage, especially if you have young kids, pets, or you just like to party hard. Don’t worry, you don’t have to hire a professional carpet cleaning services every time something goes wrong. We have a few tips and tricks to share with you on how to clean your carpet like a pro.
Make sure you act immediately
It is very important you treat the carpet stains as quickly as possible. Dry stains are much harder to remove and may not go off completely if they stay untreated for too long. Depending on what kind of stain it is, we have several methods you should be using to get professional results.
- Removing a Chewing gum
This one can be a nightmare, especially if you try to pull it directly from the carpet. Instead, grab a few ice cubes from the freezer, put them in a bag and place them on top of the chewing gum. This will harden the gum and it should separate from the carpet much easier.
- Removing beer and wine stains
The after party mess can be devastating especially when alcohol is spilt on the carpet – wine or beer in particular. You can use soda to treat the stain, but make sure you do it the right way. Put soda on a clean cloth and blot the stain with it. If the damage is severe, you should mix one part white vinegar with one part water and put it in a spray bottle. Treat the stain with the spray and let it act for 15 minutes or so, then rinse with warm water and brush the carpet if needed.
- Removing greasy stains
There’s a simple solution to greasy stains – dishwasher detergent. If you don’t have that, dishwashing liquid or soap will also do the trick. Use a soft sponge to apply and rub really gently in circular moves.
- Removing wax
Your grandma probably told you this one before, but if not, we will enlighten you now. Wax can be extremely hard to remove from the carpet (or your clothes). However, if you use your iron, it becomes an easy task. Attention – DO NOT use hot iron directly on the wax stain or the carpet! Cover the affected area with a towel and then run the iron on the towel. Make sure it’s not too hot. Scrape the melted wax with a butter knife and then place a sheet of paper on the area. Apply the heated iron again so that the wax transfers to the paper.
- Removing pet wee stains
Your furry friends sometimes have accidents on the carpet, especially if they are young. We would recommend using eco-friendly high-quality cleaning products to deal with that kind of stains. As professional cleaners, we use them when we perform a service and the results are always jaw-dropping.
